An outdoor idea about suspicious femicides which make a country's agenda upside down.
The independent newspaper BirGün has been covering the suspicious femicides for a long time. It fights against all types women’s rights violations, starting with the violation right to life. While suspicious female deaths are making headlines across the country, even becoming subjects for the most popular TV series, we aimed to bring attention to these incidents that raise a single question: Suicide or Femicide?
We designed a monumental inverted balcony installation at the heart of Istanbul.
Thousands of women had tried to make their voices heard in Women’s Day marches.
The installation made people question “the brutally reversed truth” in just a second. Outdoor settled on Turkey's agenda within hours, shared on social media thousands of times by celebrities, journalists nationwide. It created serious public pressure to investigate suspicious deaths.
